Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY: PRA, a leading global clinical research organization, is seeking a corporate data privacy paralegal to join our compliance staff at our Raleigh, NC headquarters location to be an integral part of the formation of a new department (Data Privacy Department) to further enhance the security of personal information entrusted to PRA.   Among the skills required for this position are:
  • Leadership – the candidates must have the ability to influence without authority and have effective conflict resolution skills  
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity – the candidates must have the ability to work through projects with minimal guidance taking a risk-based approach  
  • Communication-the candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write and speak clearly. The candidates must be able to provide timely communication with legal team members, business teams, and other internal and external parties in a concise manner
  • Client Service - the candidates must be capable of delivering excellent client service and must possess the personal and professional maturity to develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Document Administration- the candidates must be able to manage documents from creation to completion; creating and maintaining files related to data privacy; prioritizing daily activities according to importance and urgency; adhering to department turnaround times; and managing the approval process for data privacy related activities

Responsibilities

  • Maintains general and specific data privacy related documents
  • Revises and updates materials related to the elements of a data privacy compliance program
  • Coordinates with various stakeholders to draft and file documents related to ensuring applicable data privacy requirements are met
  • Triages questions/inquiries related to data privacy from various stakeholders
  • Creates processes to improve efficiencies related to supporting PRA business units and stakeholders as it pertains to data privacy
  • Maintains a corporate database related to data privacy related projects and initiatives to ensure visibility and timely execution
  • Monitors and maintains updates the data privacy compliance program and associated documents (policies, procedures, etc.)
  • Coordinates with internal and external counsel to form and dissolve entities in multiple jurisdictions
  • Facilitate activities and projects related to data privacy for various business units
  • Prioritizes daily activities according to importance and urgency
  • Assists legal department with special projects on an as-needed basis pertaining to data privacy

Qualifications

  •  1-3 years prior experience as Paralegal
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel or Outlook
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Data Privacy Preferred
  • Experience in Professional environment Preferred
