    Job Summary:

    The SHS Commercial Effectiveness Consulting practice works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to address a wide range of business issues including market analyses, strategy development and business planning. Projects include: portfolio/franchise/brand strategy, new product planning, pricing and reimbursement strategies; life cycle management; resource allocation and promotional effectiveness.

     

    The person in this role will take a lead in designing, delivering, and managing ground-breaking consulting projects in the global life sciences space. You will manage small teams of analysts and/or consultants for medium-sized consulting engagements or components of larger, more complex assignments. No matter what your role, you will work on a range of strategic issues for pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

     

    The Commercial Effectiveness practice is the cornerstone to Symphony Health Solutions' vision and future growth. The Engagement Manager will report to the Senior Vice President, Consulting Analytics and Innovation.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for all client interfaces within the assigned account(s)
    • Manages relationship with operational client personnel, and owns the entire engagement cycle
    • Demonstrates excellent executive poise, presence, and relevance to executive leadership (including C-level), at the world’s premier Pharmaceutical and Healthcare companies
    • Responsible for engagement, delivery quality, and customer satisfaction, by structuring and managing engagements from inception to completion
    • Will primarily focus on solving strategic and tactical sales and marketing issues across life science, bio-technology and healthcare industries.
    • Will leverage Payer, Provider, and Patient data as applied to one or more aspects of Commercial Effectiveness, including Sales Force Optimization, Marketing Effectiveness, Managed Care or Patient-Centric Analytics.
    • Work in a highly-collaborative environment with other internal business units to make use of Symphony Health Solutions’ proprietary data and methodologies for custom analytics

     

    Detailed Duties:

    • Engagement Managers lead and serve on project teams that deliver high-quality marketing and sales strategy projects to clients
    • Will assume complete ownership of significant projects and be part of and lead a close-knit team
    • Must organize own tasks and schedules in carrying out substantial business analyses and delivering high quality, client-ready work. May work on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Demonstrate considerable poise and business maturity to perform effectively and add value in the client environment, as our clients are often large, complex systems
    • Responsible for deriving insight from the analyses of complex data sets, development of a compelling and persuasive storyline, and strategic recommendations for senior management
    • Responsible for client presentations and post-delivery follow ups, to ensure client satisfaction

     

    Client Management

    • Work at all levels and across all client functions
    • Contribute to new business development and strengthening of client base
    • Manage presentations and the proposal preparation process
    • Relationship management with clients who are purchasing large and recurring services

     

    Consulting and Innovation

    • Demonstrate a high level of ability to think strategically and lead initiatives to increase awareness and build credibility
    • Strong utilization of analytical skills to strategically address the full range of client issues involving commercial and marketing effectiveness

     

    Project Management

    • Manage multiple consulting projects of varying complexity
    • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery for clients
    • Effective leadership skills to select, manage and motivate teams in a matrix organization
    • Must have passion for service delivery and the ability to interface effectively with employees and customers of all levels

     

    Operational

    • Establish processes to support timely and delivery operational excellence
    • Validate scope by conducting project kickoff and satisfaction discussions with stakeholders
    • Review client deliverables to ensure they meet all client acceptance criteria
    • Support the development of client proposal

     

    Organization  

    • Lead, mentor, and “grow” the individuals within the Consulting Analytics team
    • Develop strong, positive, cross-organization relationships with internal groups, and ensure collaboration within all functions of the organization

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • MBA or another healthcare-related graduate degree is preferred

     

    Experience / Skills / Knowledge:

    • 6+ of life science industry experience and/or education is required
    • Knowledge of advanced analytics and market research
    • Ability to blend consulting, analytics, and technology to help healthcare and pharma companies improve their Sales and Marketing ROI.
    • Hands-on experience working with patient-level data is required.
    • Strong understanding of secondary data sets and analytics
    • Strong knowledge and application of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical marketing or market research resources
    • Understanding of market/financial analysis in the context of life sciences’ business needs
    • Strong understanding and ability to develop quantitative models
    • Well-developed communication skills, including presentations, report-writing, and meeting-facilitation
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to deliver on deadlines
    • Attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to adapt and learn quickly
    • Strategic problem-solving ability
    • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software (must be able to think graphically)
    • Strong capability in managing projects and juggling priorities
    • Understanding of strategy and consulting best practices. Consulting experience with a company is preferred.
    • Ability to travel regionally to client sites, approximately 20-35% of the time (as needed). Client visits are usually partial-day trips, by automobile).
