  • Overview

    The Department of Pharmacy within the PRA Business Unit "Early Development Service" is responsible for receiving, storage, preparation, distribution and return of study-related drugs, which covers "Drug Accountability" of clinical trials. The department liaises with clients and ensures an optimal match between client needs and the capabilities of the department. The department advises where needed regarding pharmaceutical aspects and provides preparation protocols (batch records) on demand. The Pharmacy department also manages all non-study-related medication. The processing of Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) or Active Product Ingredient (API), and in particular reception control and preparations require very high accuracy and knowledge of GMP/ GCP and or FDA regulations.
    Managing the study and non-study medication and perform the resulting practical and administrative activities.

    Responsibilities

    • To manage non-study specific medication.  This involves:
      • Inspection of crash carts periodically or after special occasion use, check completeness and expiration dates; if needed add new medication or replace expired ones.
      • Management of pharmaceutical products. Maintain the stock of all pharmaceutical products, making sure there will be no expired or shortage.
      • Sourcing pharmaceutical products, marketed drugs at pharmaceutical wholesalers, international pharmacies checking invoices when delivered.
    • Develop and maintain the level of knowledge and skills in order to optimize the quality requirements of meeting GCP / ICH and GMP guidelines. This involves:
      • To learn and stay informed of the most recent effective SOPs and discuss these with Manager of Pharmacy if needed.
      • Follow internal training about GCP, GMP, FDA regulations
    • Develop and maintain the GCP, GMP, FDA compliance of the Pharmacy facilities. This involves:
      • Clean manufacturing and dispensing area’s before and after activities or if needed at rest.
      • Take care of pharmacy gowning, for the pharmacy, like collecting, for laundry and re-supply in the pharmacy
      • Cleaning of equipment used for manufacturing.
      • Handling the materials needed for the environmental monitoring system, like charging measuring equipment and maintaining the database with raw data.

    Qualifications

    • Read, write and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language required.



    • For The Netherlands: Secondary vocational education (M.B.O, pharmacy assistant)
    • For the US: High school degree
