  • Overview

    Responsible for achievement of functional goals in accordance with the company mission and objectives. Directors hire, resource, train, and evaluate staff to achieve project deliverables and assure technical competence and compliance within their functional area.

     

    Responsible for creating and maintaining client relationships, in support of securing repeat business and through successful delivery of project timelines and quality data.area of responsibility may be larger than only Project Management. Depending on site and size additional departments (e.g. Data Services) may be part of the responsibility. Further detailed information of scope of departments can be found in the organization charts.

     

    Directs, supports, and mentors safety project managers, who are managing stand alone projects. Hire, resource, train, and evaluate staff to achieve project deliverables and assure technical competence and compliance within the department. Organizes regular meetings to review and discuss risks, status and opportunities for awarded projects, to improve delivery, profitability, quality, and/or client satisfaction.

    Responsibilities

    ·         Sets overall direction for developing hiring targets, approving staff hires, and achieving hiring objectives through:

    ·         Forecasting news hires based on company backlog per quarter

    ·         Partnering with corporate recruiting to ensure timely hiring of staff

    ·         Ensures appropriate employee resources are available to meet project objectives through:

    ·         Reviewing utilization reports to ensure staff are resourced appropriately

    ·         Collaborating with Delivery owners for timely provisioning of staff

    ·         Oversees the training of project managers to ensure optimal performance and compliance with company systems and process through:

    ·         Ensuring project managers fulfill company policies, procedures, and SOPs

    ·         Providing core systems training and monitors on-going compliance

    ·         Participating in development and deployment of functional area training

    Oversees career development, assessment, feedback, and retention through:
     

    ·         Creating individualized career development plans and supports individual staff needs as appropriate

    ·         Collaborating with Delivery owners and project teams in assessment of staff performance

    ·         Responsible for functional area representation through:

    ·         Supporting deployment of functional area related strategy and initiatives

    ·         Achievement of corporate functional related objectives

    ·         Participating in and develops functional area related communication

    ·         Providing input to proposals for project bids per functional area on an as needed basis

    ·         Identifies and maximizes opportunities to secure repeated business

    ·         Providing input to proposals for project bids per functional area on an as needed basis

    ·         Providing both strategic and tactical input on the planning and execution of client projects

    ·         Participating in client presentations or bid defense meetings as required

    ·         Ownership for the operational strategy of new bids and Bid Defense Meetings.

    ·         Oversees the development of company business with new and existing customers by identifying projects with existing and new clients

    ·         Removes or mitigate risks, blockages and issues in existing projects to enhance the company’s chances to achieve repeated business.

    ·         Member of Oversight/Operations Committees for assigned Customers as requested.

    ·         Oversees regular face-to-face and remote liaison with Customer and company’s PM/PD/teams to review and discuss risks, status and opportunities for of awarded projects, to improve delivery, profitability, quality and/or client satisfaction.

    ·         Acts as a bridge between clinical operations, business development and other global support groups by developing new services and tools to enhance operational performance and strategic selling capabilities

    Maintains effective relationships between other business units or functions, internal and external clients, regulatory agencies and other appropriate constituents

    Qualifications

    ·         Demonstrated experience with clinical project development process, financial management tools, regulatory compliance (ICH-GCP), data management, project scheduling and resource management, coordinating and scheduling team activities

    ·         Project Management experience in CRO environment Phase I experience (for EDS only)

    ·         Read, write, and speak fluent English, fluent in host country language required

    >15 years’ experience in related area

    An undergraduate degree in health sciences from an accredited institution or international equivalent degree

    ·         An advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D.) preferred

    Business related coursework (management, marketing, accounting, budgets, personnel management, negotiation skills, etc.) preferred.

    PM training and or certification, or RN preferred.
