    Job Summary:

    The SHS Commercial Effectiveness Consulting practice works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to address a wide range of business issues including market analyses, strategy development and business planning. Projects include: portfolio/franchise/brand strategy, new product planning, pricing and reimbursement strategies; life cycle management; resource allocation and promotional effectiveness.


    The Commercial Effectiveness practice is the cornerstone to the Symphony Health Solutions vision and future growth. The newly established group is hiring top-tier consulting talent to support its unprecedented grow. The team will guide its client base by putting fact-based strategy in place to address root issues and implementing it with the intent of building deep and lasting partnerships as trusted advisors.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Consultant/Sr. Consultants are integral members of the Commercial Effectiveness Team. They contribute to all levels of the consulting process. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of consulting assignments and have regular interactions with clients. The primary focus of their role is on solving strategic and tactical sales & marketing issues across life sciences, bio-technology and healthcare industries.  This includes familiarity with leveraging Payer, Provider and Patient data as applied to one or more aspects of Commercial Effectiveness, including Sales Force Optimization, Marketing Effectiveness, Managed Care or Patient Centric Analytics.


    S/he will be working in a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial environment with other internal business units and using Symphony Health Solutions proprietary data and methodologies for custom analytics and as needed. Key areas of internal interface include: Technology, Business Development, Client Solutions Teams and other Practice areas.


    Detailed Duties:

    Responsibilities are broadly defined and are expected to increase as quickly as aptitude is demonstrated. This is a highly challenging position that draws heavily upon all of the analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills essential to strategy consulting. Consultants serve on project teams that deliver high-quality marketing and sales strategy projects to clients. In particular, Consultants possess qualitative research and unstructured problem solving skills and/or advanced quantitative analytics skills. The ability to assume complete ownership of significant project tasks while at the same time being a part of and leading a close knit team is essential. Our consultants must organize their own tasks and schedules in carrying out substantial business analyses and delivering high quality, client-ready work.  As our clients are often large, complex systems, these consultants must demonstrate considerable poise and business maturity to perform effectively and add value in the client environment. 

    • Client Management:
      • Work at all levels and across all client functions
      • Manage presentations and proposal preparation process

      • Strong analytical skills to strategically address the full range of client issues towards commercial and marketing effectiveness.
    • Project Management:
      • Work on multiple consulting project tasks of varying complexity
      • Ensure on-time delivery for clients and internal stakeholders
    • Operational:
      • Support the development of client proposals
    • Organization:
      • Develop strong, positive cross organization relationships with internal groups and ensure collaboration with all functions in the organization
      • Communicate with a sense of urgency and clarity to facilitate decision making



    • Master's degree in life sciences, business administration or related discipline
    • Qualified candidates must be able to understand and clearly communicate the clinical and business implications of technically complex products and services.
    • At least 3-5 years Life Science industry experience is required
    • Candidates should be excellent project managers, strong team players, take initiative, and think strategically and creatively
    • Understanding of secondary data sets (patient claims) is required
    • Knowledge of advanced analytics and market research

    • Ability to blend consulting, analytics, and technology to help healthcare and pharma companies improve the ROI of their sales and marketing.

    • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

    • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently
    • Well-developed communication skills, including presentations, report writing and meeting facilitation
    • Strong capability in managing specific project tasks and juggling priorities in a time sensitive, high-paced environment
    • Ability to travel up to 20%
